SACRAMENT PREPARATIONGina Nullet, (386) 445-2246, ext. 109First Reconciliation is received for all children of the parish in second grade and above. Our goal is to make the children aware of the healing power of God. Volunteer teachers are very well versed in the sacrament and have a deep love of God and the children. The children are taught the Act of Contrition and tour the Reconciliation Room to familiarize themselves in order to be comfortable with the process when they are ready receive the sacrament. Classes meet Sunday mornings for approximately eight weeks in the fall. The sacrament is celebrated at a candlelight service in November. FIRST COMMUNION is celebrated during the Easter season each year. All children preparing for first communion meet for eight sessions for the first communion catechesis and culminate with a retreat with their parents. Classes are held on Sunday mornings.
CONFIRMATION is celebrated in the ninth grade with the understanding that the candidates have normally completed their full eight years of parish religious education prior to enrollment in the confirmation program. Classes, including a weekend retreat, meet for eight weeks beginning sometime in October on Sunday mornings. The date for confirmation is determined each year by the Bishop’s office. |
