RESPECT LIFE COMMITTEE

This group is dedicated to raising the level of awareness to respect life from conception to natural death through prayer, education and action and is under the Diocesan Respect Life Office. The committee is organized into regular meeting members, e-mail members and telephone chain members. The cradle in the Gathering Space of the church encourages parishioners to donate baby items for Alpha Pregnancy Center in Bunnell and St. Gerard Campus in St. Augustine. The committee meets the first Tuesday of the month after the 8:30 am Mass in the Cody Room.

The Respect Life Committee of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church was formed in 1991 under the auspices of the Respect Life Program of the St. Augustine Diocese.

As a service organization our goals are to inform the parish community of current issues which support the sanctity of life as a gift from God and to keep parishioners aware of situations that would threaten that life.

So that the public might be aware of our activities we:

1. Host a Marion Hour of Prayer to end abortion in December.

2. Organize a Life Chain & Prayer Vigil in the town square each year    on  the first Sunday in October, which is Respect Life Sunday.

3. Organize a prayer vigil in the town square on January 22nd, the anniversary of "Roe vs Wade".

4. Sponsor letter writing campaigns, telephone calls and e-mails to our elected officials to support respect life legislation.

5. Are responsible for the prayer for the unborn child that is said at the beginning of each Mass.

6. Sell roses at the Masses on Mother's Day to benefit the Women's Help Center In Jacksonville.

7. Sponsor a Procession For Life on Respect Life Sunday at the 10 A.M. Mass.

8. Purchase and staff a table at the Flagler County Schools' Home Service Fair.

Our "Cradle" in the back of the church has provided, through the generosity of our parishioners, gifts & baby items for St. Gerard Campus and the Alpha Pregnancy Testing Center in Palm Coast.

Our committee is organized into Regular Meeting Members and Telephone Chain Members.
