Dear Parishioner,
Welcome to our parish and Palm Coast. I invite
you to grow with us, pray with us and live the sacramental life of the church
as followers of Jesus Christ.
St. Elizabeth Ann Seton parish, or “Mother
Seton,” as we are sometimes known, was established in 1979. Members of our
parish family come from all over the United States and across the globe. I
think of us as a patchwork quilt of different ethnic and cultural backgrounds.
We are comprised of young and old, working and retired people who share a
common love of our Lord, and a spirit of friendship and compassion as the
people of God.
Ours is a vibrant, warm parish that has
experienced tremendous growth and change over the last 25 years. Mother Seton
began as a small, mission church and has grown to exceed 4700 families. In this
new century we are living out an exciting chapter in our parish history, and we
want you to be an integral part of this history.
As you read the descriptions of our many
ministries and organizations, prayerfully consider joining some of them. If any
member of our pastoral team, or I, may be of assistance, please call (386)
445-2246.
Again, welcome to our parish family; and as
you enjoy the Florida sunshine, may the Lord’s love shine on you.
In Christ’s love,
Reverend Mark S. Waters

Ours is a vibrant, warm parish that has experienced tremendous growth

regular Sunday schedule.
Ø
If a holy day falls on a Saturday, there is
no 7:00 pm Mass for the holy day.
(The regular 4:00 pm Mass is for
the Sunday obligation only).
Ø
If the holy day falls on a Monday, there is
no 7:00 pm Mass on Sunday, the
eve of the holy day.
It is desired that all parishioners actively participate in
weekly liturgies when the parish family gathers for worship in a spirit of
togetherness. The more familiar parishioners are with each other and the parish
staff, the more meaningful the celebration. Please take time to greet one
another and the clergy as you arrive and leave the church.
Sacrament of Baptism
“Go
and make disciples of all nations. Baptize them in the name of the Father and
of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.” Matthew 28:19
Arrangements
to have a child baptized should be made by calling the Rectory Office, (386) 445-2246.
Ideally this should be done prior to the birth of the child. Preparation
classes, usually conducted on the second Monday evening of the month, are
required for all parents.
Baptism
of infants and children is administered on the first and third Sundays of each
month following the noon Mass. Baptism for children of catechetical age (7 and
older) participate in an extended Catechumenate process (see page 17).
Sacrament of Confirmation
“But
you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you and you shall be
my witness in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and even to the end of the
earth.” Acts 1:8
The
bishop administers the Sacrament of Confirmation each year to youth in the
ninth grade and higher who have completed the preparation process. Normally,
candidates will have completed eight years of religious education before
entering the final preparation for confirmation. The sacrament coordinator
should be consulted for special situations.
Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession/Penance)
Jesus
came and stood before them… then he breathed on them and said, ‘Receive the
Holy Spirit, if you forgive men’s sins, they are forgiven them, if you hold
them bound, they are held bound.” John 20:22,23
Confessions
are heard every Saturday afternoon from 3:00 to 3:45 pm. Parish penance services are held during Advent and Lent
as an opportunity to celebrate the sacrament in a communal setting. Individual
confessions, when needed, can be arranged by calling the Rectory Office.
Information
concerning first reconciliation/penance for children is located on page 18.
Sacrament of Eucharist
“While
they were eating, Jesus took a piece of bread, said a prayer of thanks, broke
it, and gave it to his disciples. ‘Take and eat it,’ he said; ‘This is my
body.’ Then he took a cup, gave thanks to God, and gave it to them, and said,
‘Drink it, all of you, this is my blood, which seals God’s covenant, my blood
poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins. I tell you, I will never again
drink this wine until the day I drink the new wine with you in my Father’s
kingdom.’” Matthew 26:26-28
In
addition to receiving communion during liturgies, communion is available for
the respite/homebound by contacting Sr. Ann Berendes, (386) 445-2246.
Information
concerning first communion for children is located on page 18.
Sacrament of Matrimony
“A
man shall leave his father and mother and cling to his wife and the two shall
become as one.” Genesis 2:24
According
to the policy of the Diocese of St. Augustine, Florida, a couple planning to be
married should make arrangements with the church at least eight (8) months in
advance. They should check on available dates for the church before
making any firm commitments of other arrangements for the wedding.
Couples
are required to meet periodically with the priest or the deacon they have
chosen to officiate at their wedding. They are also required to attend a
Pre-Cana Conference or an Engaged Encounter weekend. The couples will also work
with the priest or deacon and the parish music minister in planning the
ceremony.
Any
questions concerning the church’s rules and regulations on marriage should be
directed only to a priest or deacon of the parish so as to avoid any confusion
or misunderstanding.
Sacrament of the Anointing of the Sick
“Is
there anyone sick among you? Let him call for the presbyters of the church, and
let them pray over him and anoint him with oil in the name of the Lord. This
prayer made in faith, will save the sick person, the Lord will restore his
health, and if he has committed any sins, they will be forgiven.” James 5:14,15
The
Sacrament of Anointing should be given to the seriously ill, i.e.: a person in danger of death from sickness or
old age; any sick person even though no illness has been diagnosed; prior to
surgery; elderly people even though no illness has been diagnosed; sick
children if they have sufficient use of reason to benefit from the strength and
consolation of the sacrament.
The
Sacrament of Anointing is NOT the Last Rites! Call
the Rectory Office, (386) 445-2246, to request a priest to administer this
sacrament.
